The weekend started off with Friday night at home. I opted not to go to yoga, because for some reason my stomach was just feeling off on Friday. I felt I needed a relaxing night at home, so that’s just what I did. I got home and heated up my dinner and watched some tv for a bit. I then decided to build my bookshelf.
That was quite the project to tackle alone because it’s a tall bookshelf and it was hard to put the sides together on my own, but I did it. Podcast listening and building was actually relaxing. Oh and I couldn’t find my hammer so I pulled out the meat hammer. It worked. Then I found the real hammer in another closet.
After all the building, I turned on my laptop and found a movie to watch on Amazon Prime. I was so into the movie that I amazingly stayed up until 11pm and then I was ready for bed.
Saturday morning the sun had me awake by 6:30. I wanted to sleep in longer, but I was already quite awake. I decided to make breakfast and then headed out to Target. It was pouring rain and there was pretty much no one at Target before 8am like I was. My main reason for going was to get a Roku. We had one at our old apartment but besides the remote, we can’t find the other pieces. I also feel like there are more Roku options now, but I stuck with the Roku Express for $30.
After my Target shopping, I went to the grocery store. The grocery store was much busier than Target, but it was good I got there early with all the catering for graduation parties this weekend. I didn’t want to buy too much since I am only in town for half this week, so it was a quick trip grabbing everything on my list.
I was home by 9 and done with my errands for the day which felt great. I put everything away then set up the Roku on the TV before heading out for a quick stop mid morning and then coming back to make some lunch.
After lunch I decided to build my new file drawer.
I had the IKEA file drawer in black, but I am now getting white furniture so I bought a new one. I had just enough time to build it, but struggled to get the top drawer in. Then I was picked up to head to a graduation party. I’m not used to these graduation parties that look like wedding receptions from a card box, photos, DJ and bar tender. I went to a small one, but it still was amazing to see. I’ve never had a graduation party, but I did attend a friend’s at a bowling alley at home.
We somehow ended up sitting next to the dessert table and I had a cake pop and cupcake after. Then had great food catered as well. I had some delicious meatballs and fresh bread rolls. So good. That counted as my dinner even if it was 4 o’clock.
I was stuffed by the time I came home. I decided to browse all that Hulu has to offer and discovered The Brady Bunch on there so I had to watch. Even though The Brady Bunch ended way before my time, I watched it on Nick at Night growing up. Just crazy to imagine how different TV was in the 70s.
I got tired pretty quickly. I think I ended in a sugar coma from the sweets at the party. I actually went to bed super early which led to an early start Sunday.
Sunday morning I was awake around 6am and had already slept nearly 9 hours by that point, so I decided to get up. I made some protein pancakes with a side of blueberries for breakfast and watching an episode of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu because everyone seems to be obsessed with the show. I am now 4 episodes in and not entirely hooked yet. I can only handle the drama for an episode at a time.
I then headed to the gym around 7:30 since I was up and ready so early. It was nice to get my workout in early and it was leg day. I increased some weights and due to the humidity, I was sweating like crazy.
I came home, grabbed a snack and did some foam rolling. I am trying to foam roll while watching TV just so I do it more and stay a little more active. Then it was time to shower and do some food prep.
I made chicken fajitas and roasted veggies and ate some for lunch. Then I made a small batch of cupcakes with peanut butter frosting for my friend’s birthday. I headed over to her house to deliver them and chat for a while. It was good to catch up and spend a rainy afternoon there.
When I got home it was about dinner time. I heated up a turkey burger and roasted veggies. Then it was a nice quiet night watching tv while it rained outside.
What do you like to do on a rainy weekend?
