It has been a while since I have done one of these posts, but the idea popped into my head this weekend as I took time to write and thought of some random facts. You know when someone asks you “hey what’s a random fact about you” and you just totally blank because you think you must not be interesting, but then you remember like an hour later oh, man that would have been a good one. Anyway I thought I would write a few things down and maybe you will learn something you didn’t know.
- I HATE yogurt…like hate being near it, the smell of it, can’t be in my fridge (unless I happen to share a fridge and you have the single serving ones and eat those away from me)…yeah hate it
- I have no fashion or style sense and this is why I kinda gave up on curtains in my office recently. I tried to go along with what everyone said when they said I should get curtains, but really I just prefer blinds in bedrooms. We are still planning to hang curtains in our bedroom, but I think because the walls are darker it will work. It will still be something I have to “get used to.” However living room windows and giant windows, curtains are fine. I think it’s from the way I grew up and curtains were just never in our bedrooms.
- I have only owned 1 car and this will be 10 years with that car. I want to upgrade, but at the moment, don’t have the funds for it, so trying to make this car last as long as possible. The other thing is I’m afraid I won’t know how new cars work, you know, they have buttons to start, buttons to unlock the car, back up cameras and screens for the radio?! I don’t have any of that and my car functions just fine, but seriously cars have changed a ton in 10 years.
- Speaking of cars, I have the worst luck with tires, I mean there have only been 15 tires purchased for my car in the last 10 years and I want a new set of all seasons which would bring the total to 19 tires, but trying to get through one more summer with my other ones. 3 flats in the first 5 years and a sidewall blow out and 8 tires were snow tires, so almost even with snow tires and all seasons, but still that’s a lot of tires. Christmas is often a time I receive tires…but I prefer function presents or experiences as gifts these days.
- I quit my last job with a one way ticket to Australia and I would do that again in a heartbeat.
- When I was in college and even in part of high school, I used to write/journal daily on my computer. I have word documents saved by the month of all my thoughts which I realize helped me process everything more than I know. I miss writing daily and I had a goal of turning it into a book someday. I think that would still be cool.
- When I moved to Philly, I first researched gyms and yoga studios. I showed up to a yoga teacher training meeting at a studio before attending a class there and decided to do that training. It was one of the greatest things I have done to invest in myself and I hope to do more trainings in the future and teach again.
- Looking at me now, you’d probably think I was athletic my whole life, but the reality was the most athletic I was growing up was taking tap dance. I was also on the swim team for 1 year in high school. When I got my physical the summer before, my doctor basically told me in a nice way that I was very out of shape and needed to go to the gym over the summer if I wanted to be on the swim team.
- My first blog was Alicia Kettler in Australia for my Australia adventures in 2011. I loved blogging but besides Australia, I didn’t know what to blog about. Once I graduated I started Bridges Through Life on Blogspot and then in 2014 finally took the plunge to start on WordPress.
- In May, I’m getting married in Charleston, SC on a beach. I’ve never been to Charleston before so I’ve set all this up via online interactions. The internet is amazing.
Tell me something interesting about you

I finished my “30 Day Yoga Journey” with “Dedicate: Yoga with Adriene,” yesterday onYouTube. Check her out, Alicia. Some of Adriene’s videos have more than a million views. She posted one yesterday that already had 67,000 views by this morning. She lives in Austin, TX and has her dog in the videos. I am doing yoga every morning now for 20-30 minutes. I guess I hit rock bottom from stress. Yoga has been recommended to me for years, but I couldn’t make myself do it consistently. Love, Mom
