Yesterday there were a couple times when I thought it was Thursday. Going from a 4 day work week to a 5 day one is tough. At least today is finally Thursday and we survived the winds and tornado warnings around here yesterday.
I have a few thoughts swirling through my head so I thought it would be perfect to join up with Amanda today for some Thinking out Loud.
- Last week I tried that whole don’t wash your hair for 3 days and my hair felt GROSS at the end. I couldn’t wait to wash it. My hair gets so oily. I like washing my hair at least every other day.
- Yesterday I planned to stay late at work, so I brought some dinner, which did work out since I ended up staying 2 hours late. I have been behind this whole month. I think I have too many tasks because I really can’t remember them all but it is also audit month so a lot of my time has been spent getting and researching things for them. Luckily I made it home before the major storm came into the area. It was still windy and raining walking home though.
- I mentioned on Monday that I joined a 7 day sugar detox for this week. So far going strong. The goal is to stay under 25g of added sugar a day. Fruits and whole foods don’t count towards this (thank goodness because some days I eat a good amount of fruit). I went slightly over the first day, but have been under since. I enjoyed having my leftover sweet potato pad thai a couple nights.
- I really feel like I need a change in my life. I know that is kind of a broad statement. One thing is I want to spend more of my time at home learning something new, whether that be working on this blog to improve it, studying more yoga so I can teach better or learning a new skill to help me in the future. I miss school sometimes, even though it was stressful, I miss the learning. I definitely have some changes in mind for this year and when the time comes I will talk about them.
- I know I said it (or planned to) last year, but I really want to read more. I have yet to join the library near me and I moved almost a year ago. The library is pretty small though and I often am too impatient these days when I want to read a certain book. Plus I have been trying to read some more personal development books (going along with number 4 above). I can’t wait to read this book that just arrived yesterday.
- Yesterday on my way home on the train I read this post from Pinch of Yum. I really think it is a must read for everyone. Everyone gets jealous of people’s lives from time to time as we highlight mostly (or all) good times on social media. You still never know what is really going on behind the scenes or what someone could be going through. This post was just what I needed to read after a long day at the office yesterday and I like when posts really make me think about what I am grateful for and also what do I need to change to be even happier (again hinting back at point 4).
I think I will end there as it’s time for me to head out for work. Hope everyone has an awesome day.

I used to wash my hair every other day but now I’m down to washing it around twice a week. I think you need to give your hair a little bit of time to adjust to being washed less so that it has a chance to rebalance itself. Mine used to get really oily as well, but the longer I stuck to it, the less oily it got. Oh, and dry shampoo is kind of a lifesaver.

I thought about getting dry shampoo. I will have to try again and see if I can adjust to it.

It’s only been for the last year that I have been able to wash my hair less. And that post from Pinch of Yum was SUCH a blessing. God providentially brought it to me at JUST the right time. Wow.

I felt the same way about that post Emily.

In regards to washing your hair – sometimes it takes a little while for your hair to gets used to it. When you wash your hair regularly, your body creates more oil because it’s being stripped with each wash, so it needs to regulate itself. I suggest working up to it, because not washing your hair everyday is life changing and saves SO MUCH time.

Thanks for the tip Morgan. When you don’t wash your hair do you still run the water through it in the shower or do you put it up and leave it dry?
