Happy Monday!! Today is a particularly marvelous Monday because I am heading to Disney world tonight. YAY!! I swear I have been trying to get there for like 3 years now and really want to see Harry Potter World at Universal too. Finally it is happening. I am working part of the day before taking the train to the airport today. So besides this post, I plan to be MIA the rest of the week but you can always find me on Instagram (@ilabk or my blog Instagram @bridgesthroughlife).
It’s so weird to think that a week ago (when I am writing this on Sunday) I was digging my car out of 22 inches of snow and now, the snow is melting away so quickly.
We had temperatures above freezing everyday this week and many sunny days, which I am loving. Temperatures overnight are still below freezing so the morning isn’t fun when all the melted snow turns to icy sidewalks. Luckily my apartment has a shuttle bus to the train so I have been taking that as there aren’t really sidewalks to the train. In the city walking to my office building there are some places becoming icy but hopefully most of the snow will be melted in the next week other than the massive piles.
Anyway onto the weekend. Friday was pretty low key. I heated up some soup for dinner, watched Along Came Polly and nearly fell asleep on the couch before 9pm…yeah I’m boring.
Saturday morning, I headed to Wegmans, wished them a Happy Birthday
and managed to spend over my weekly budget of groceries even though I was just restocking staples because I am headed on vacation. I guess that’s what happens when you are snowed in and haven’t gone grocery shopping in a week and a half though…
I came back home, did some laundry, had a snack and then went to the gym to sub a yoga class. After class one guy came up to me and said “wow, you’re the real deal, that was challenging.” Sometimes (OK all the time) I stress so much about making the yoga sequence and having it be long enough and wondering if I am explaining the poses well enough. I set a pretty high standard for myself but I know it will all come with practice and slowly I am getting more comfortable teaching. Having great comments like this helps me feel better about my yoga teaching because I definitely don’t consider myself a power yoga teacher and I like to keep my voice at a calm tone. I think it is great that I can still get the class breaking a sweat mid way through and have a great cool down session with twists and savasana at the end. It is all about balance and I am going to keep on learning about what works and what doesn’t.
After yoga, I stayed at the gym for zumba which was fun. Then I did little shopping at Target (the bad part about Target being next to the gym is it is just so convenient to stop there more when I teach).
I came home and Brian had arrived shortly before me. I made some sausage for a late lunch and we enjoyed a laid back afternoon on the couch, watching Netflix.
Before I knew it, it was dinner time, I got some good looking zucchini at the store and had to spiralize that up. Cooked up the rest of the sausage and roasted a sweet potato. I also had some avocados to use, so I used one and made an avocado sauce for the zoodles. OMG avocado + zoodles = AMAZING!!
After dinner, to get ourselves up and moving, we headed to the mall to walk around a bit. After that I was so tired, but we drove around for a bit and then as we were almost home, there was an accident or something closing the road, there were multiple police cars, firetrucks, an ambulance, it had to be bad. I tried to search for something on the news online because it was only a few months ago that someone was killed on that same curve with a hit and run, but I couldn’t find anything. Anyway, we had to turn around and come down the opposite end of the street and finally made it home.
Sunday morning it was nice to sleep in a bit longer. I made pancakes for breakfast and then started to pack before heading out to teach yoga at noon. When I got home, we went out to lunch at Muscle Maker Grill. I got a delicious quinoa, kale and chicken wrap.
We came home and it was so nice outside we decided to open the windows and air out the apartment and clean a bit. Always nice to clean before vacation because then you don’t get overwhelmed when you return. In the evening, I made the same dinner as Saturday night because Brian enjoyed it so much and then we parked it on the couch for the night.
I hope everyone has a great week and I will be back next week with vacation recaps.

Ugh, I wish the snow would melt that fast in North Jersey! It feels like it’s taking foreverrr. Hope you have a great vacation, very jealous!

We have had a lot of sunny days melting the snow. Surprised that it hasn’t been melting fast for you. Hopefully it will be gone soon. I just saw that the groundhog didn’t see his shadow so hopefully spring is around the corner.

I think it’s incredible how fast snow melts. It’s here one day and gone the next. Today we’re getting the dump that the East Coast got last week. Is that a birthday cake for Wegman’s? It’s AMAZING!

That is the birthday cake for Wegmans. Everyone was entering the store and stopping to take a photo, it looked amazing!! Wish I could have tasted some. I am sure it was good.
