Happy Thursday everyone!! Can you believe we are nearly finished with the third week of January?! I mean sometimes New Year’s feels like yesterday and other days, it feels like it was months ago. I am pretty excited though because 1) I have a massage booked for next Thursday and 2) I am heading on vacation the first week of February, so I have things to look forward too. On the other hand, Philadelphia is supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow beginning Friday night through Saturday and early Sunday morning… I have only had 1 winter in Philadelphia so far and of course winter last year was unusually cold with a couple snow storms, but most of the time, it seemed the weather people were calling wolf as we would prepare for like 5 inches of snow and wake up to a dusting. This year has been unusually warm. I mean a month ago it was 70 degrees here…what?!? Hard to believe as people complain about this 20 degree weather. Hey, it could be worse. So we will see what happens, but moving on, let’s get to some Thinking out loud. Thanks Amanda!!
- Tuesday night I posted the below photo on Instagram. Shredded chicken has been a simple dinner for me this week and paired it with some brussel sprouts for something green. I also made Arman’s 1 minute single serving banana bread. All of this was very good. Most of the time I eat pretty well, but always have some chocolate or cookies. Behind the scenes on Tuesday I was just so hungry, like nothing was satisfying me on Tuesday night, so after eating this, I then had 2 bowls of dry cereal, some Girl Scout cookies and a handful of pretzels, along with chugging 2-3 bottles of water. Sometimes that just happens, but I am blaming it on that time of month.
- I ate all that and then headed to zumba at 8, but I did give my stomach 45 minutes to digest so I was fine ๐ Tried out a new zumba class and it was OK. I think my head just wasn’t as into it as I wanted. Working out at 8pm is tough for me, definitely prefer 6-7pm time frame if after work, but also love my 5am workouts.
- speaking of my 5am workouts, I kinda didn’t do any last week, other than a couple at home at 5am. I took a couple extra rest days last week and I really needed it, so I came back nice and refreshed this week and enjoyed getting back to the gym at 5am yesterday morning and planning to go tomorrow morning. Getting back to my Mon, Wed, Fri 5am weight sessions.
- I ordered some more Flapjacked pancake mix and finally decided to try the muffins this time. I got all the flavors, including the new smores one (maybe my reason for finally trying them). I was skeptical of microwave muffins, but I have to say, the smores was delicious last night, mini marshmellows in a muffin. YUM!
- Last night my appetite was more normal, I had my shredded chicken and the rest of my brussel sprouts followed by the Flapjacked Smores muffin and a piece of chocolate and felt satisfied.
- Though I also spent nearly 2 hours last night grocery shopping. OK, I think maybe 20-30 minutes of that was actual grocery shopping. Remember I told you we are expecting a foot of snow, so I decided Wednesday night was a good time for me to go out. The only thing is I usually drive to NJ to shop at Wegmans, well that wasn’t happening at rush hour, let alone Google was also showing like 4 accidents on I-95, no thank you. So I decided to venture to Trader Joes and Whole Foods. Unfortunately those are located in shopping plazas 11 miles from me and due to all the traffic lights, it takes 30 minutes to get there on a normal day, so not exactly much closer. Driving there took 45 minutes after a detour due to an accident and road being closed, but I made it and realized my tire light (which came on Monday) finally turned off because I drove more than 4 miles!!
- Produce just looks so much better at Whole Foods than some of the grocery stores near me, which is why I made the drive. I mean I just love that rainbow of veggies in the store. Anyone else? Or am I just weird?
- The good news besides the tire light going off, is that I won’t starve this weekend and I will also be able to stay inside Saturday (I will find an at-home workout or some yoga to do) when it is snowing.
And that’s all for me today. Wish me luck being possibly snowed in Saturday, but you know, now that I am all prepared, it probably won’t snow that much right ๐

Sending you good vibes for surviving the weekend ๐ We haven’t had any bad snow storms here in a while, but I definitely know what it’s like to be holed up at home because it’s kind of scary to go out. At least you have plenty of good food ๐

Thanks Amanda!! I’ll make it through somehow, coloring books and reading will be good ๐

Flapjacked is soo good. I love their apple cinnamon pancake mix. I actually first tried it because I won one of their Instagram contests for a gift card. They got me hooked! I only but it from time to time though. I usually make pancakes from scratch.
