Happy Friday!! This week was awesome because I only had to work for 3 days (even if that meant I had to stay a bit overtime last night for end of month things). If only every week could be a 3 day work week right?!
Finally I am recaping my long weekend at home over memorial day. I hadn’t been home in a year (since I moved last April) so I was looking forward to going to eat at my favorite places and especially stopping by my old gym. I swear I still suffer withdrawal from that place.
I got in early Friday morning. I loved gaining an hour since I went from Eastern to Central time!
My dad picked me up from the airport and we hit Chicago traffic of course, but it wasn’t too bad. I got home, said hi to my sister and changed into workout clothes right away. A short while later, my friend picked up me and my sister and we headed to a Pure Barre class in Evanston. I had been before, but neither of them had.
That class kicked all of our butts!!
After class, we headed next door to Noodles and Company for a late lunch. Oh how I missed that place!! I know it is technically fast food but the Japanese Pan Noodles with tofu are my fav! They really need to bring this place to Philadelphia.
After eating, I headed into a local camping store for a new pair of flip flops and a water bottle. Then we headed back to my house chatting for a while and digging through some boxes, finding my old pottery I made when I was like 7 years old…I had some skills to make that house though.
I then headed off to zumba step at Lifetime Fitness. My favorite zumba teacher got certified in zumba step after I moved and I really wanted to try it out. I am kind of afraid of steppers because they are just made of plastic and sometimes slide, but it wasn’t so bad and I thought I did pretty well. Definitely worked up quite a sweat and had fun!! The gym really felt like home again, I miss it!
I quickly grabbed some Portillo’s hamburgers to go after the gym and ate quickly before heading out with my sister and friend to see Pitch Perfect 2!! AHHH the movie was amazing!! So good, I would probably pay again to see it in the theater.
Saturday morning, I headed out around 8:30 to pick up my rental car. Then I headed to the gym and got a good 30 minutes of stretching and foam rolling in. I woke up sore from that barre class and zumba step in one day. Then it was zumba time!! The class was just as fun as I remember it and I was definitely going full on high intensity most of the class. I even got to go on stage with the instructor for a song. I probably look ridiculous sometimes but it is all about having fun and my teacher sure makes it fun!!
After zumba it was time for me to quickly eat lunch and head on the road to Michigan to visit my best friend and her baby (who is no longer really a baby). We had fun at the beach in the evening and Isabella’s first time in the water, she loved it!! We also enjoyed cupcakes before dinner because I can’t pass up those cupcake trucks. #worthit
[Trying to teach Isabella about selfies, but she doesn’t quite get it yet, one day]
Sunday morning I hung out for a little bit playing with Isabella and then drove back to Evanston. With Monday being a holiday, there was hardly any traffic Sunday afternoon which was perfect for a quick drive back. I picked up some spices and vanilla from The Spice House.
The afternoon on Sunday was pretty uneventful, just cleaning some of my things up and my dad made beef kabobs for dinner which we ate while watching the Food Network for hours.
Monday morning, I had to return my rental car and then I took the train into the city to meet up with Susie. We enjoyed brunch and I had the most delicious chocolate banana crepes!! It was so nice to meet a blogger in person and my trainer (she created a couple workouts for me).
The afternoon on Monday was spent outside. It was raining on and off, but the sun eventually came out and we got some planting done. Then we made potstickers and bbq chicken on the grill and enjoyed a family meal outside. YUM!!
Tuesday came quickly and it was time to head back to Philadelphia. I had an adventure taking the train to Midway airport for the first time, but went smoothly and then my flight was delayed but made it back to Philly safely and Brian came down for a couple nights as well.
Whew…what a week and now I look forward to sleeping in this weekend. I also have to take my car in because the brakes are squeaking…not fun. Besides that, it should be a relaxing weekend and I still can’t believe June 1 is Monday!!
What are you doing this weekend?
